Google Search Console: How to Improve Your Website Ranking Yourself
Google Search Console is a free tool provided directly by Google that shows your website through the eyes of a search crawler. It helps you understand which phrases people are already using to find you and what specific improvements you can make to rank higher in search results.
1. Check which search queries people use to find you
The “Performance” section contains some of the most useful statistics.
You will see four main metrics:
• Clicks: How many people visited your website from search results.
• Impressions: How many times your website appeared in search results.
• CTR (Click-Through Rate): The percentage of people who saw your link and clicked on it.
• Average position: The average position of your website in search results for different search queries.
Example: The “Queries” tab may show that people frequently search for “website development with an easy-to-use admin panel.” If your position for this query is 10–12, you can add these words to the page heading and improve its position to reach the first page.
2. Find pages with high growth potential
Look for a search query that has many impressions but few clicks (a low CTR).
This means that Google frequently shows your website to people, but they choose your competitors instead.
• What to do: Change the Description field in your website’s admin panel. Make the text more appealing: add information about prices, discounts, or guarantees to encourage users to click on your website.
3. Make sure Google can see all your pages
The “Indexing” section displays a list of all the pages that the search engine has already added to its database.
• If a page is not indexed, people will not be able to find it through Google.
• The tool will show you the reason why: for example, the page may load too slowly or may not contain unique text.
• You can easily edit the text or compress images in your admin panel and submit the page for reinspection.
4. Submit your sitemap
A sitemap is a file that helps search engine crawlers find new pages and products faster.
In the “Sitemaps” section, you only need to enter the link to your sitemap once (it usually looks like [yoursite.com/sitemap.xml](https://yoursite.com/sitemap.xml)). On websites created by Inna Web Studio, this file is generated and updated automatically.
Google Search Console does not require any programming knowledge. It is a clear guide that tells you exactly which headings and texts in your admin panel could be improved to help you attract more customers from search.
